How do GLP-1s Work?

GLP-1 receptor agonists, such as semaglutide (Wegovy, Ozempic, Rybelsus), aid weight loss by mimicking the GLP-1 hormone. This hormone slows gastric emptying, enhances feelings of fullness, and reduces appetite. These mechanisms help reduce food intake and, consequently, body weight.
